Roswell Root, son of Eli Root and Mindwell Sacket, was born in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, on 29 November 1759.1 He married in November 1784, Pamela Dickinson, daughter of Captain Israel Dickinson and Mercy Partridge.1 Pamela was born on 7 August 17671 and died aged 57 in May 1825.1
