John Jeremiah William Sackett, son of Samuel Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Watts, was born in Broadstairs, KentG, in 1842.1 He died aged about 72 in Maidstone, KentG, in 1914.2 He married first in Westminster, LondonG, in 1863, Anne Ward.3,4 Anne was born in Brackley, NorthamptonshireG, in about 18425 and died aged 57 in Fulham, LondonG, in 1899.6 He married second in Bromley, KentG, in 1902, Julia Catherine Cook Sackett, second cousin, daughter of Edward Cook and Mary Catherine Sackett.7,8
     In 1851 John was living at 3 Staffordshire Place, Ramsgate, KentG, in the household of his parents Samuel and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as Jeremiah Sackett, a scholar, aged eight and born in Ramsgate.9
     In 1871 he was living at 6 Montague Place, Brighton, SussexG, and was recorded as John Sackett, a greengrocer, head of household, married, aged 29 and born in Broadstairs, Kent. Living with him were his wife Annie, 29, children, William, 6, Thomas, 4, and George, aged four months. Also in the household were Maria Ward, 23, listed as a daughter but presumably Annie's sister, Frederick Ward, 3, listed as a grandson but presumably Maria's son, and Thomas Ward, 13, a nephew.10
     In 1881 he was living at 18 Kramer Mews, London, MiddlesexG, and was recorded as John Sackett, a general dealer in provisions, head of household, married, aged 38, and born in Broadstairs. Living with him were his wife Ann, 36, and born in Brackley, Northampton, and their children, William, 17, Thomas, 13, George, 9, and Annie, aged six. Also in the household were a general servant Maria Ward (who would have beeen Annie's sister), a 13-year-old boy Fred Ward, presumably Maria's son, and a cousin Fred Cramer.11
     In 1901 he was living at 1 St Peter's Terrace, Fulham, LondonG, and was recorded as William Sackett, a cab driver (groom), head of household, a widower, aged 60, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his son George and daughter-in-law Mary. Visiting the household were a George Strong and his three children.12
