Alfred Ansell Sackett, son of George Sackett and Louisa Maria Haysom, was born in St Leonard's, Shoreditch, MiddlesexG, on 3 July 18561,2,3 and baptized at Hoxton Christ Church, MiddlesexG, on 1 July 1866.2 He died aged 60 in Edmonton, MiddlesexG, in 1916.4 He married in St John the Baptist, Islington, MiddlesexG, on 30 July 1881, Minnie Sophia McMurdie, daughter of Edwin John McMurdie.5,6,7 (This was a double wedding in which Alfred's sister Rosina and James Salter were also married.) Minnie was born in St Leonard's, ShoreditchG, in about 18583 and died aged 70 in IslingtonG in 1929.8
     In 1861 Alfred was living at 7 Francis Place, Poole Street, Shoreditch, MiddlesexG, in the household of his parents George and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Alfred Sackett, a scholar, aged four and born in Hoxton, Middlesex.9
     In 1871 he was living at 7 Frances Place, ShoreditchG, in the household of his widowed mother Louisa, and was recorded as Alfred Sackett, an errand boy, aged 14 and born in Shoreditch.10
     In 1881 he was living at 11 Francis Place, Hoxton Old Town, MiddlesexG, in the household of his widowed mother Louisa, and was recorded as Alfred Sackett, a mason, single, aged 24.11
     In 1901 he was living at 24 Englefield Road, Hackney, LondonG, and was recorded as Alfred Sackett, a stone mason, head of household, married, aged 44, and born in Shoreditch. Living with him were his wife Minnie, aged 42, and born in Shoreditch, and their unmarried 18-year-old daughter Catherine.12
     In 1911 he was living at 39 Carlingford Road, West Green, Tottenham, MiddlesexG, and was recorded as Alfred Sackett, a stonemason, head of household, aged 54 and born in St Leonard, Shoreditch. Living with him was his wife Minnie, 52.13
     In 1921 Alfred's widow Minnie was living at 71 Oakley Road, Islington, LondonG, and was recorded in the census as Minnie Sophia Sackett, an unemployed florist, a widow, aged 62.14
