Vincent Edward Sackett, son of Eli John Sackett and Amelia Terry, was born in Stepney, MiddlesexG, in 18551 and baptized at St George in the East, MiddlesexG, on 1 November 1857.2 He died by poisoning, aged 39, at Castle Street, Shulay, Bangalore, Madras, IndiaG, on 12 October 1894.3,4,5 He married in BangaloreG on 10 April 1882, Elizabeth Perrett, daughter of Thomas Perrett.6,7,8 Elizabeth was born in about 1865.9 After Vincent's death, Elizabeth married second in BangaloreG on 30 December 1895, Alfred Robert Clarke, son of Alfred Clarke.
Vincent was a barge builder before enlisting in the British Army, aged 19, at Sheerness, KentG, on 1 October 1874. He served in the Royal Artillery for eighteen years, including thirteen years in India. Following his discharge in 1893 he lived in Madras. At the date of his death he was a Chelsea Pensioner, receiving his army pension as an out-pensioner.7,10
