John Bevis Sackett, son of William Sackett and Ruth Ann Bevis, was born in Thanet, KentG, in 1851.2 He married in about 1875, Lavinia Johnson. She was born in New York StateG in about 1855.3
     John was taken to America as a young child by his parents when they emigrated to New York in about 1853.
     In 1880 John was living in Greenburgh, Westchester County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as John B Sackett, a druggist, head of household, married, aged 28 and born in England. Living with him were his wife Lavinia, aged 24 and born in New York, and their children, William, 3, and Clarissa, aged one. Also in the household was a nine-year-old (?) female servant.3
