Oliver Sackett, miller and stonemason, son of Pliny Sacket and Elisabeth Kellogg, was born in MassachusettsG on 9 July 1796.1,2,3 He died in Greene, Chenango County, New York StateG, on 7 February 1870 and was buried at Brisben Baptist Church Cemetery, Chenango CountyG.2,4,5 He married in GreeneG on 3 April 1827, Esther Wing, daughter of Samuel Wing and Esther Bennett.6,7 Esther was born in New York StateG on 2 May 1807.1,2 She died aged 80 in GreeneG on 12 June 1887 and was buried at Brisben Baptist Church CemeteryG.2,4
     Oliver served as a Private in the New York State Infantry during the War of 1812.5,8
     Oliver was listed in the 1830 census as a householder in Oxford, Chenango CountyG.9 In 1840 he was a householder in Greene, Chenango CountyG.10
     In 1850 Oliver was living in GreeneG and was recorded in the census as Oliver Sackett, a mason, aged 54 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Esther, 43, and their children Samuel, 19, Lydia, 18, Phoebe (listed as O E), 16, Alzina (listed as S E), 14, James (listed as Jone), 12, Rachel, 11, Mary, 8, Charles, 7, Oliver, 6, John, 4, Jane (listed as Jone), 4, and Esther, aged two.11
     In 1860 he was living in GreeneG and was recorded as Oliver Sackett, a farm laborer, aged 64. Living with him were his wife, Esther, 53, and their children, Samuel, 30, James, 23, Rachel, 22, Mary, 19, George [who must surely have been Charles], 17, John, 14, Jane, 14, and Esther, aged twelve.12
     In 1880 Oliver's widow Esther was living in GreeneG and was recorded in the census as Esther Sackett, head of household, a widow, aged 74. Her unmarried son John, 33, was living with her.13
