Lydia Jane Sackett, daughter of Elijah Gibson Sackett and Malinda Lee, was born in Delaware, OhioG, in November 1849.1,2,3 She died aged 64 in Luverne, Rock County, MinnesotaG, on 25 November 19144 and was buried at Maplewood Cemetery, LuverneG.5 She married in Adair County, IowaG, on 4 March 1875, James B Speers.2,3,6 James was born in McLean County, IllinoisG, on 8 February 1854.7 He died aged 72 in LuverneG on 30 December 19267 and was buried at Maplewood Cemetery, LuverneG.5
In 1850 Lydia was living in Berlin, Delaware County, OhioG, in the household of her parents Elijah and Malinda, and was recorded in the census as Lydia J Sackett, aged nine months and born in Ohio.8
In 1860 she was living in Bloomington, McLean County, IllinoisG, in the household of her parents Elijah and Malinda, and was recorded as Lydia Sackett, aged eleven.9
In 1870 she was living in Cheney Grove, McLean County, IllinoisG, in the household of her sister Catherine and brother-in-law John Burroughs, and was recorded as Lydia J Sackett, aged 20. Also in the household were her sister Josephine with her husband Martin Hayward and their children, Charles and Katy. Her parents Elijah and Malinda were living next door.10
In 1880 she was living in West, McLean County, IllinoisG, in the household of her husband James B Spears, 26, a farmer, and was recorded as Lydia Spears, aged 29. Their son Daniel, aged two, was living with them.11
In 1900 she was living in Mound, Rock County, MinnesotaG, in the household of her husband James, 46, a farmer, and was recorded as Liddie Speers, aged 49. Living with them were their children, Clay, 22, Nora, 14, Teddy, 12, and Minnie, aged nine.12
In 1910 she was living at Main Street, Luverne, Rock County, MinnesotaG, in the household of her husband James, 56, and was recorded as Lydia Speers, aged 60. They rented their home.13
