Solomon Sackett, son of Solomon Sackett and Hulda Webster, was born in Sandisfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, on 24 May 1823.1,2,3 He died aged 80 in Colebrook, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, on 19 February 19041,4 and was buried at the Center Cemetery, ColebrookG.5 He married at the Congregational Church, SandisfieldG, on 20 November 1847, Melissa Fargo.1,6,7 Melissa was born on 12 August 1827.8 She died aged 82 in Colebrook, Litchfield CountyG, on 30 September 1909 and was buried at the Center Cemetery, ColebrookG.9
In 1850 Solomon was living at Sandisfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, and was recorded in the census as Solomon Sackett, a farmer, aged 26, and born in Massachusetts. Living with him was his wife Melissa, aged 23, also born in Massachusetts.10
In 1860 he was living in Sandisfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, and was recorded as Solomon Sackett, a farmer, aged 37. Living with him were his wife Melissa, 33, and their children, Grove, 9, and George, aged two.11
In 1870 he was living in Colebrook, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, and was recorded as Solomon Sackett, a farmer, aged 47. Living with him were his wife Melissa, 42, and their children, Grove, 19, George, 12, and Frank, aged nine.12
In 1880 he was living in Colebrook, Litchfield CountyG, and was recorded as Solomon Sackett, a farmer, head of household, married, aged 57. Living with him was his wife Melissa, aged 52.13
Letters of administration of the estate of Solomon and Melissa's son George, who had some assets in the United Kingdom, were granted in London, EnglandG, on 30 June 1894 to Solomon. The assets were valued at £45. A further grant was made in 1905 to Melissa, the value of the assets then being £32.14
Administration of Solomon's estate in England, valued at £64, was granted in LondonG on 28 October 1904 to his widow Melissa.15
Solomon's widow Melissa made a will at Winchester, Litchfield CountyG, on 9 August 1909. She left her estate, valued at $36,000, equally to her sons, Grove and Frank, after providing for the maintenance of her widowed sister, Amy Ryder.16

Solomon Sackett, second son of Solomon Sackett, was born in Sandisfield, Mass., May 24, 1823. He was reared on his father's farm, and educated at the common school. In about the year 1853 he commenced traveling as a salesman for Winsted manufacturers, which business he continued until about three years ago. In November, 1847, he united in marriage with Melissa Fargo, and they have three children, as follows: Grove, who resides in Chicago, in the interest of the William L. Gilbert Clock Company; George, who has been in the Winsted Savings Bank for seven years; and Frank, who is employed by the William L. Gilbert Clock Company. Mr. Sackett has led an active life, and is one of the substantial citizens of the town. He is a present selectman of the town, and was a representative in 1870.
