Robert Francis Sackett, son of George Seymour Sackett and Rachel Hetsler, was born in MichiganG on 26 December 1843.1,2 He died aged 18 of typhoid fever while serving as a Union soldier in the 5th Regiment, Michigan Cavalry, during the American Civil War in 1862.1,3 He was buried in the National Cemetery, Washington, DCG.
     In 1850 Robert was living in Clinton, Macomb County, MichiganG, in the household of his parents George and Rachel, and was recorded in the census as Robert Sackett, aged eight and born in Michigan.4
