George William Sackett, son of Henry Sackett and Annie Kelly, was born in St Olave Southwark, LondonG, on 25 August 1899.1,2,3 He died aged 83 in New South Wales, AustraliaG, on 18 September 19821 and was buried at Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney, New South WalesG.4 He married at St Olave Bermondsey, LondonG, on 3 May 1924, Mary Kathleen Rackliff.1,5,6 Mary was born on 12 July 1903.1,3 She died aged 89 on 7 October 1992.1
     In 1911 George was living at 40 Janeway Street, BermondseyG, in the household of his parents Henry and Annie, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, a schoolboy, aged 11 and born in Bermondsey.7
     George served in the First World War, enlisting in the 5th Provisional Company, Middlesex Regiment, in Camberwell, LondonG, in 12 September 1917.8
     In 1921 he was living at 40 Janeway Street, BermondseyG, in the household of his widowed mother Annie, and was recorded as George Sackett, a general labourer, aged 21.9
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, George and Mary were living at 42 Harold Estate, Bermondsey, LondonG. George was an electricity meter reader.10
     George and Mary and most of their children emigrated to AustraliaG in 1966.11,12
