Ethel May Frankish, daughter of Arthur Edward Frankish and Lavinia Sackett, was born in Sculcoates, Hull, YorkshireG, on 3 February 1893.1 As an adult, she used her second name, May.
     In 1901 Ethel was living at 42 Washington Street, Newland St John, Sculcoates, Kingston upon Hull, YorkshireG, in the household of her parents Arthur and Lavinia, and was recorded in the census as Ethel M Frankish, aged nine [actually eight] and born in Hull.2
     In 1911 she was living at 9 Brooklyn Street, Sculcoates, YorkshireG, in the household of her parents Arthur and Lavinia, and was recorded as Ethel May Frankish, a dressmaker in a costumiers, aged 17 and born in Hull.3
