Edwin Sackett, son of Pliny Sacket and Nancy Bartlett, was born in New York StateG on 6 April 18231,2 and died aged 73 in Poweshiek County, IowaG, on 3 September 1896.3 He married in about 1850, Elizabeth Hall.3 She was born in OhioG in about 1830.4
     In 1880 Edwin was living at Bear Creek, Poweshiek County, IowaG, and was recorded in the census as Edward Sackett, a farmer, aged 56, and born in New York. Other family members were his wife Elizabeth, aged 50 and born in Ohio, and his children Annette, 16, Emma, 14, Frank, 13, Rachel, 11, Dora, 9, and Cora, aged seven. Also resident was a 22-year-old farm laborer, Andrew Fall.4
