Israel Sackett, son of John Sackett and Lucinda Moseley, was born on 30 March 18091 and baptized at the Church of Christ, Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 3 June 1809.2 He died aged 71 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, OhioG, on 26 August 1880.1,3,4 He married in Schenectady, New York StateG, on 20 March 1832, Margaret Jane Allen, daughter of David Allen and Susan Little.1
Israel Sackett was engaged throughout his adult life in the printing business. In 1832–1833, he published the Schenectady and Saratoga Standard.1
In 1860 Israel was living in North Hempstead, Queens County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as Israel Sackett, a farmer, aged 51 and born in Massachusetts. Living with him were his wife Margaret, 48, and their children, Robert, 14, Emanuel, 12, and Ella, aged ten.5
In 1869 Israel was living at 20 Butler Street, BrooklynG, and was listed in the city directory as a printer. His sons, George, Charles, Robert, and Emanuel, were listed at the same address.6
