Edward I. Sackett

Edward I. Sackett, 86, of Trenton, died Monday at St. Mary's Hospital in Langhorne, Pa. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mr. Sackett lived in the Trenton area for 30 years.

He was an iron worker for over 30 years in which time he helped build the Union Carbide Building in New York, the Bell Building in Boston, Mass., the Tapanzee Bridge in Nyack, N.Y., and the Fairless Steel Plant in Bucks County, Pa. After his retirement he moved to Yuma, Arizona for the past 20 years, and recently moved back to the area to be near his family.

He is a member of Incarnation Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He loved ballroom dancing, playing pool, and bowling.

He is the son of the late Dwight Putnam and Mary Jane Carty Sackett. He is survived by four daughters, Jane Coult and her companion, Charles Muller of Hamilton Twp., N.J., Kathy Caola and her husband John of Brick, N.J., Gail Bondi of Lawrenceville, N.J., and her fiance, Edward McElroy, Mary Beth Novak and her husband, John, Jr. of Hamilton, N.J.; three sons, John R. Sackett of Port Republic, N.J., Charles Sackett of Trenton, N.J., Steven Sackett, Sr. of Somersville, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a dear friend of many years, Norma Miller of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Funeral will be held on Friday at 9:45 a.m. at the M. Wm. Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., in Ewing, N.J. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Incarnation Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
