Betty J. Sackett, age 90, of Girard, went to be with her Lord and her brother and sister on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. Born on February 24, 1923, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Irving D. and Elizabeth Peters Sackett, Sr. Betty was a 1942 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. She had been employed for many years at various banks in the Girard area. Betty enjoyed baking cookies and pies, traveling, reading, ladies luncheons, and was an avid photographer who had her own dark room in which she could do her own film processing. She put her faith and trust in God while showing charity for all her fellow creatures; she saw His beauty through the lens of a camera and guidance through the words of books. This soft-spoken gentle woman with a contagious giggle believed in angels and enjoyed collecting them. Betty was a member of Rosalind Rebekah Lodge #207 and Girard United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Kemling, her brother, Irving D. Sackett, and her devoted pet Benji. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Yong Sackett of Springfield, VA, her brother-in-law, Frank Kemling of Fairview, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all those who helped care for Betty as her health declined.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Girard Cemetery.
